Coastal Scents Creative Me #1 Swatches

This palette was waiting for me on my doorstep when I got home from work this afternoon and I couldn’t wait to tear it open and share it with you guys.
The reason I purchased this palette is because I wanted to have nice bright matte colors and this seemed like the perfect palette!
Here’s another look at the full palette:

The packaging was good and bad. The good, was the outer case. It seems very sturdy and even though it’s not a very large palette, it has a nice weight to it, which I like. Now for the not so good…I don’t think the magnets on the bottom of each shadow is very strong. When I was swatching the shadows, each shadow would spin or move a bit because the magnet wasn’t holding it very securely. I did do something crazy, I turned it upside down to see if the magnets were really weak. None of the shadows fell out, but I think I’m either going to glue them in or try and apply stronger magnets to them just to be on the safe side.
Now let’s look at the colors up close:

These are the official color #s and names from Coastal Scents website:
1. CM001 Light Yellow
2. CM002 Bright Yellow
3. CM003 Light Tangerine
4. CM004 Bright Tangerine
5 CM005 Neon Red
6. CM006 Neon Bright Pink
7. CM007 Deep Purple
8. CM008 Magenta
9. CM009 Indigo
10. CM010 Electric Blue
11. CM011 Teal Green
12. CM012 Shamrock Green
Now let’s look at the swatches!
Here’s the colors swatched on me by themselves (no primer):

I figured the yellows and oranges wouldn’t show up very prominently on my skin tone since it is deeper. Fairer skin tones might have a bit more luck. I was pretty happy with swatches 5 - 11. They all showed up well. #12 Shamrock Green did not show up very well at all on me without a primer. You can barely see it. This surprised me a bit.
Now since these colors are so bright, I knew that I was going to have to wear a primer/base with them to really get more a sense of their true color especially on my skin.
Now here are swatches with a white base underneath each shadow:

As you can see the colors are much richer. My least favorites are 1, 3, and 12. They just don’t have as much color pay off as I’d like. For those, I’m going to have to use a base that is their color to help pop and stand out more.
Overall I’m happy with my purchase. I haven’t gotten to really play around with the colors to see how they blend, but I’m definitely excited to try them out!
