Fall 2012 Makeup Trend: Deep Lips

Since Fall is almost upon us, I’ve been scoping around a lot to see what makeup artists are going for with their makeup looks.

We’ve all seen the bright red lip, which was really huge last winter. Spring brought us bright pink and coral lips. I’m really excited about the idea of a deep red lips. I think it’s pretty wearable for everyone and you can play around with the color a little bit, so if you’re a little scared to go to deep you could opt for a color with more brown undertones so it’s a bit more natural and subdued. Or if you could opt for a color with more purple in it to get more of a plum lip.

I thought I’d go through and pick out a few colors that I thought would work for different skintones and show you a drugstore and high-end version of each.

Fair Skintones:

For fair skin I like to go with a more pink/redish undertone…more like a wine color.

Medium Skintones:

For medium skintones, I still like the idea of wine colored lips, but with a bit more brown…think mulberry.

Olive Skintones:

Since people with olive skintones tend to have yellow or greenish undertones, I like the idea of using purples on their lips. I think it’ll play up their skin very nicely and really make their lips pop.

Dark/Deep Skintones:

Deep plums and browns look BEAUTIFUL on darker skintones. Like I mentioned above, if you’re a bit scare of color you could opt for a plum with brown undertones to help subdue it a bit…but I say go for it :]

As always, these are just some of my recommendation on what I think would work for different skintones. Feel free to use whatever color you’d like. Remember, makeup is supposed to be fun, so get out there and experiment!
