My Top 10 MAC Eye Shadows
10. Carbon: Intense Black (Matte)
Intense is right. In my opinion there isn’t a black out there more pigmented. A little goes such a long way. Whenever I need a true black eye shadow, this is what I reach for.
9. Chrome Yellow: Vivid Bright Yellow (Matte)
Yellow eye shadow was pretty hot this spring and I really love using it to create bright, colorful looks. Yellow doesn’t always translate well on darker skin, it can be a bit chalky, but I love this color on me…especially when I use a gold base/primer.
8. Brown Script: Warm Chestnut Brown (Matte)
This color is pretty close to my skin tone, and I really love to use this color to blend in my crease as a transition for other shadows. I think this could also make a great contour color for the crease on fairer skin.
7. Handwritten: Rich Chocolate Brown (Matte)
This is a total go to color for me. I use this constantly in my crease and along my lower lash line.
6. Ricepaper: Peachy Gold with Shimmer (Frost)
I love to use this color as a highlight. Since my undertones are warm, I think the peach tint really brings out the golden undertones in my skin. I also like to use this as a highlight on my cheeks/forehead.
5. Woodwinked: Warm Antique Gold (Veluxe Pearl)
I like using this color to transition a gold to darker browns. I think it’s a great color to use for smokey looks, it blends so beautifully and since it’s a veluxe pearl it has some shimmer, but not too much. I think this color looks great on a lot of different skin tones.
4. Blue Flame: Mineralize Black with Blue Pearl (Mineral)
I was in love with this color from the moment that I saw it. Since it’s a mineralized shadow, you can use it dry or wet. When used dry it gives a softer navy blue. When used dry, it gives an intense blackish-blue with shimmer to it. It’s gorgeous.
3. Beauty Marked: Black-red with Sparkle Pearl (Velvet)
MAC describes it as a black-red, it looks more purple on me. I love to use this color when I create smokey eyes.
2. Passionate: Read Mid-tone Red (Matte)
I think this is a really interesting color, since it’s not too red or two pink, your eyes don’t get the “sick” look when you use it. Definitely a good color to try if you want to try out a pink or red shadow.
1. Old Gold: High Frosted Tarnished Gold (Frost)
I bought this color when MAC launched the Hey Sailor collection. I used this color almost every day since. I use it to create natural go to looks for me when I go to work. It’s just enough sparkle, but since it’s a richer gold, it doesn’t give off as much shine, which makes it more wearable. It’s a pigment, so it can be used wet or dry. I love using it wet to create a “foiled” look. Definitely worth checking out! :]
